  • How does therapy work?
A Psychotherapist can help clients work through mental health problems and help people of all ages live happier, healthier, and more productive lives. Psychotherapists apply scientifically validated procedures by utilizing scientifically proven techniques to help people learn healthier behaviors and combat negative thoughts. Psychotherapy, can help people with a broad variety of mental illnesses and emotional difficulties. It can help eliminate or control troubling symptoms so you can function better and can increase well-being and healing. It is a collaborative treatment based on the relationship between an individual and a Psychotherapist. You and your therapist will work together to identify and change the thought and behavior patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best.
  • How is a Psychotherapist different from Psychologist or Psychiatrist ?
Psychotherapists, Psychologists and Psychiatrists have different licensing bodies and they all have different expertise. For example you should see a Psychiatrist when you need medications to help with your conditions. This should not be your first step and it is recommended that an individual must explore therapy services before residing with medical interventions. Psychologists have a different lens of looking at the patients and their expertise lies in officially diagnosing a disorder which may be required for any official or legal purpose. Psychotherapy includes cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal, and other kinds of therapy that help individuals work through their problems. Problems helped by psychotherapy include difficulties in coping with daily life; the impact of trauma, medical illness or loss, like the death of a loved one; and specific mental disorders, like depression or anxiety. There are several different types of psychotherapy and some types may work better with certain problems or issues.
  • Which therapist would be a good fit for me?
All of our therapists are registered with the CRPO (College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario) and have a Master or higher degree in mental health counselling. Please have a look at "Our Counsellors" section on our website to get more information about therapist's approach and their treatment styles.
  • Do you offer Direct Billing for Insurance Companies?
Insurance companies do not do direct billing for Psychotherapy Services. We invoice you for the session, you have the option to pay through credit / debit card or e-transfer. You will be able to submit our provided receipt to your insurance company who will then reimburse you based on your plan and coverage. Please contact your insurance provider to find out details of Psychotherapy coverage under your plan or contact us if you need to discuss financial matters.
